Here, students leave with more than just a degree, they absorb the Essex Spirit, a unique mindset that teaches them to challenge convention, think globally and do things differently. That's how we have nurtured a community of alumni who inspire, lead, and advocate for others, actively improving the world we live in. And at a time when the world is facing so many challenges, it needs more Essex graduates.

Barriers to education shouldn't still exist, but they do. That's why we're supporting students from every background and unlocking their potential with our new scholarship appeal.

Education unlocks potential. But what is a straightforward path for some, is becoming out of reach for so many. Social inequalities and the rising cost of living are stopping many from continuing or even beginning higher education.

Our campuses are already home to nearly 1,500 student scholars with big ambitions like curing cancer, combating the climate crisis, and defending human rights. But there’s more we can do to break down barriers and help even more students to fulfil their potential at Essex before they go on to tackle the global challenges that lie ahead.
