In April 2020, in response to the increasing number of our students facing financial difficulties resulting from coronavirus, we launched an emergency appeal for the Hardship Fund. One year on, your generosity has meant we have been able to support over 550 students. However, our students are still struggling - loss of part-time work, drop in family household income and digital poverty are all still impacting on their ability to manage their studies.
The University has put in place a package of measures to help our students during this challenging time, but we know there is still more to do, and we are asking for your help.
Our student population is diverse, and their needs vary, but we are committed to providing financial support to all students in need. Our Hardship Fund supports students in four key areas:
Donations made to the Hardship Fund go directly to students in need making their lives easier and allowing them to confidently continue their education here at Essex. By donating, you can help ease financial burdens that so many students are facing.
